Message from Avian Network: Avian Network dedicated to and created for "JUNIOR" a pacific parrotlet.. with so much personality and so much zest for life ! (1996-April 2009) I entered the internet bird world "because of JUNIOR" because I wanted to know how to care for him; give him the best and longest life I could...and we achieved that with help from all of those who love and care for parrots...now all we need is more research.. and I PRAY we can all work toward this goal.. JUNIOR, THANK YOU.. for your love; intelligence and most of all "your companionship" .. You shall never be forgotten and not a day will go by that I won't miss you in my life!

   When every prospective bird owner fully investigates the "best" species for their "family" and situation;
   When every breeder educates and offers "directions" for care of the new "family" member and never sells an un-weaned chick to those who are not experienced;
   When every new owner takes their new "family" member to a "knowledgeable avian" vet within the first ten days of bringing them home;
   When well checks are done yearly;
   When every bird is weighed at least once weekly as a "health check";
   When everyone cares about the necessary diet, cage size, need for toys and stimulation and cleanliness of their feathered companion;
   Then perhaps survival rates will go up, rescue agencies will house only birds who have outlived their "human" caretakers and all birds everywhere will be thankful for their human companions.
We can only hope........................
